entire sims families missing from the game

I restarted my game with a fresh save file. I strictly do not use any mods. When I first restart a sims game. I go into every family in the game and change thier outfits and hair. I did this for the first two worlds. I also like to add the sims I created myself from my library. I added a few characters and when I did it said "some content has not been installed" or something like that, I looked it up and people said it was a visual bug and you could still add your sims. And it seemed they were right. I still was able to add them. I spent hours editing the families that already existed in the worlds. I would edit them, then move them from "played families" to "unplayed sims" in the sim category. When I finally got off for the night and came back the next day, 4 families were completely missing from the game. They were not in the "unplayed sims" category. And were no where in the files I searched. When I edit families I do not save them it my library because when I reupload them the game does not recognize them as the original sim so any pop ups or quest lines delete. All of these familes were originally a part of the world. Like the landgrabs were gone, the goth family, the pancakes. All missing/deleted from the game. I tried to recover my save but the sims were still missing. I do not know if it was the sims from my library that caused the bug to delete other families. But i have most of the expansions and add ons. I do not use mods, why is this happening? I deleted my save again but I'm not sure I want to even bother playing the game again if its going to keep deleting the families I edit.

  • LittleMadd  It sounds like the sims that went missing were culled which is a normal game function.

To avoid this happening for sims you want to stay in the game and take the time to make over, you need to leave the sims marked as played and in the My Households tab of Manage Households.  Culling only affects sims kept in the Other Household tab.  You should also look at your Neighborhood Stories settings as well to keep sims that you want in the game from getting killed off by accidents when you aren't playing them.  You may also want to adjust your Max Sim Count to a higher setting as well.

    Hope this helps.

  • thank you, I have never heard of that before, I'm surprised it hasnt happened to me sooner.

LittleMadd You probably haven't enough sims to cause it to happen before.  Just keep all the sims you want to keep around in My Households and culling won't get any of the households.  It only culls entire households from the Other Households tab.  If you end up exceeding the Max Sim Count because of that, you can raise that number.  Choices are (80, 150, 200 and Unlimited).

    Hope this helps.
