esc button in build mode doesn't work?

So...every so often I run into this issue. Idk why but I think its been happening ever since some patch back in the summer, I don't remember when, either before or after eco lifestyle. About 50% of the time when you go into build mod, the esc button stops working! So if you click on an object to place it or something, and then you want to clear it with esc, you can't. Only way to fix this is to again log out to menu and go back into the game. Anyone else run into this issue? Also on a slightly different topic but still on the build section, We use to be able to easily copy items in build mode and just place them I think it was by holding down shift or something but now we can't do that? Is there any way to copy and place an item that's already put down instead of just looking at the name because sometimes I can't find that item.
