Event in the sims "Back to the Future" - help me

I'm in the middle of the "Back to the Future" event in the sims, I didn't have money for a computer, so I went to the library to use the "time travel item" item, then the computer broke and the next mission was "repair or replace the computer", but the problem was that I couldn't repair it in the library because I wasn't at home, it was a public place.

What should I do in such a situation? After buying a new laptop, I tried to break the laptop at home, it broke, I fixed it and the mission was not checked off.
