Favorite Fertilizer Option Please

@RaichiSims, I totally agree with you!  This has been bothering me for years!😢  It was the worst when we had the Growfruit Challenge a few years ago.  Back then, the only way to get Growfruit was to call up Jasmine Holliday and she would give you some special fertilizer in order to make a Growfuit tree, where you could harvest Growfruit from.  This challenge was only for a limited time.  

The problem was that the special fertilizer would be buried in your list of fertilizer options.  Without a way to sort fertilizer by type, strength, price, recently obtained, etc. there was no easy way to find the special fertilizer.  I wanted my best gardener to with the biggest garden to have the Growfruit too , and having such a big garden meant a lot of harvested plants in my inventory (this was before I knew having such a large personal inventory of plants caused your household bills to become very large).  Well, it took 10 min the first time I scrolled through my list of possible fertilizer choices. 😞 The next time it took even longer!  😠

We also need our personal inventories to be categorized …. a tab for books, harvested plants, rocks, fossils, My Sims trophies, fish, potions made by the science career or in Realm of Magic, etc. 

I don't know how difficult it would be for EA to do these things.🤔  I don't know code.  But having our fertilizers arranged in categories is a must for our Sims that have large gardens or who have been gardening for a long period of time!  Same goes for any Sim who is a collector or who we have just been playing for a long period of time,  in regards to their personal inventories. 🤞

@RaichiSims I agree... your idea is awesome! I really hope this suggestion is enacted, along with the organizational recommendations for inventory that @PugLove888 mentioned. This would make many of our lives easier - big time!

I'm crazy about gardening in the game, and I have also found fertilizing very annoying (though now that we don't have to constantly scan for the fertilizer can in inventory it is much better - not sure if this is the one from the growfruit challenge you mentioned, PugLove, or just the general one). The fact that we can fertilize with many types of organic items now is awesome! I thought I would add a few things to PugLove's excellent list (and try not to repeat!)...

Additional 'managing produce/flowers' inventory tips:

• If you are collecting flowers for flower-arranging purposes, after harvesting drag them by the stack from personal inventory to the flower-arranging table to store them. This will get them out of your personal inventory, and any of the household sims can then use them at the table to make the arrangements.
• If you are a herbalist (this may also be the case if making potions in ROM - I'm not sure as I have not done it), you can drag the harvested herbs by the stack from your personal inventory to one of the games' storage chests to store them, or to the refrigerator. Refrigerator is best so you can just brew with them directly from there (I don't remember if these need to be in personal inventory while cooking for an herbalist?) You can also story the bugs, etc you need for your brews in the storage chest until you need them.
• If you are collecting/storing fruit/veggies/herbs to cook with, drag them from personal inventory by the stack to the refrigerator.
• Dragging by the stack is awesome and saves tons of time, but it removes the whole stack from your inventory. If you want to keep any in your personal inventory, just re-add a few back in after dragging the stack. You can also drag stacks to sell... and if you want to keep a few just drag those first to the floor, sell the stack, then drag the few back to your inventory or the refrigerator, etc., for storage.

I think I covered the purposes you would want to use harvestables for, but I may have missed something. Anyway, What I do is only keep a reasonable supply on hand and in inventory for usage purposes to avoid those nightmare household bills PugLove mentioned, and mercilessly sell everything else. Once you have the supplies you need you can keep some stacks of your favs for fertilizing in personal inventory, then... Super-Sell is your new very best friend. That and the pause button. I have my sim go collect/harvest what I want to keep, then just queue up a walk-through of clusters of plants and Super-Sell the rest. Doing all of this made my life much easier, and was a sanity saver.

I was thinking the same thing. In the Sims 3 we had the option to click once and choose "fertilize with best (something, can't remember the word)" and your sim would then go and fertilize the whole garden. This one by one fertilizing is tedious and annoying for those of us who love to garden.

Plus I wish they'd bring back bug collecting. Those were my favorite two things to do.

@RonneeSimmer, on some of my Sims' gardens , I ignore the fertiler altogether!  It is so tedious and could be made much simpler.  I'm glad they simplfied Evolve for your plants, but I was surprized they didn't streamline the fertilzer system at the same time (in the patch right before Season was released).  

And while I'm not the biggest fan of TS3 , I did enjoy bug collecting!  (We do have it somewhat if you have the Outdoor Retreat GP).  But as a person who likes collecting myself, I always love Sims who like to collect as well, and it seems like a missed opportunity to not have a bug collection.  One of my favorite things from TS3 were collecting all the different colored fireflies! 🙂

@PugLove888 I agree... fertilizing is a pain. I have plenty of perfect plants that got there through care, bee hives, evolving as needed, and time. 

@Psychotps True... but the bees are a bit of a pain also, especially with large gardens and several hives. I'd rather deal with them than worrying about fertilizing, though, if I have an area and enough plants to make it a good plan. (Sometimes I only have 1-3 plants and they're in the living room or similar. Then I will fertilize instead... sometimes.) Mostly I don't worry about it because I have many perfect plants in my gallery. I just download them. Fair enough in my book, as I'm the one who went through the pain to mature them! 😉

@Psychotpsyes, I like having bees but sometimes I don't have room for them, or at least enough of them.  Or sometimes the bees are always enraged even if they don't have mites !  For those instances, I just prefer fertilizing by hand!  And sometimes, for a Sim that is really all about gardening, I will do both! 🙂
