Flooring on Staircases

I would like to set a flooring to be on my stairs leading to my front door. How would I go about doing so?

  • @jnettech Hello!  There are a couple things you can do to change the flooring under the stairs.

This is an image of one of my lots just showing terrain paint underneath.

This one shows floor tiles added.  In build/buy mode, click Floor Patterns, select the pattern you want, then place the tiles under the stairs as you would for a room.

This one shows new terrain paint that matches the gravel leading up to the stairs.  In build/buy mode, select Terrain Tools, select the terrain you want and brush size, then click and hold to paint the terrain underneath the stairs.  By the way, using terrain paint doesn't cost anything, if you don't want to spend any simoleons for this.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you for the information! However; I am looking to place the flooring pattern ON the stairs. (Eg. Changing the look of the stairs to be a different flooring type.) Additionally, I’m not sure if I mentioned it in my first post, but I am on Xbox.

@jnettech You can't change the pattern of the stairs using floor tiles or terrain paint. You can only use the different colour swatches provided for each stair type. There are stairs in the base game that somewhat match specific flooring (like brick).
  • @jnettech I don't mean to necropost, but I agree. We really need to be able to do this or at least have floors that match the stairs while being able to copy the stair texture onto floors somehow.
