Glitch when trying to cook

I've been having several problems lately. I don't have any mods or custom content. But my game glitches when I try to cook. When the menu with the dishes is supposed to appear, the screen freezes. It doesn't happen every time, but it occurs when I try to cook with other Sims or for children. The only solution is to restart the game, but that's annoying when you forget to save.
