[GRO] Console Cancel Problem (Self-Discovery Popups)

This isn't a bug, but a problem that's happened due to the implementation of the system as it affects consoles (PS4 in my case). More than once, just as I'm going to hit Circle to close a menu, in the most recent incident it was the Needs menu, a Self-Discovery Trait window popped up at the same time and I ended up cancelling it without even having a chance to see what it is. This has happened to me 3 times already. There's no good reason this can't appear, or at least be backed up, in the notifications tab. That way, if I do accidentally cancel because of bad timing and control constraints like this, I can still go into notifications and make a selection there. I could be missing out on some extra Traits my Sim earned that I actually want, but I'll never know because of this design flaw.

  • I was just mentioning elsewhere that I wished some of the pop-ups - I was thinking likes & dislikes, but this would make sense for the self-discovery as well - would just go into a pending section of the Sim panel or something, with a notification to check it. Even better, I suppose, if the accept/reject was just in the notification and no addition to the Sim panel is needed. Either way, I wish it wasn’t pop-ups so we could get to it when we get to it and not have our Sim’s day constantly interrupted by them.

Phone calls, work/school events, and exploring make sense as pop-ups, but not everything needs to be.

@PipMenace - Yeah, chance cards are fine, especially in Jungle Adventures. You see those coming. It's not necessarily even pop-ups in general that bother me, but the way console controllers are set up, bad timing with them can screw the player over. On PC, you don't have to back out of the toolbar menus. The cursor stays free-moving by default and you have a lot more keys to assign to different functions. On console, pressing Circle to back out of Needs or Inventory or Simology can end up cancelling the pop-up if the timing is bad and you never see it again. It's just gone.
