Household Ingredient Storage

I have multiple spellcasters in my household, and juggling potion ingredients between them is a hassle.  I've discovered that I can put food ingredients in the refrigerators and everybody in the household has access to them when making potions, but I can't find a way to do this with other ingredients (minerals mostly).  Is there some way to store them so everybody has access to them?  I currently have them in a chest, and just have people take out individual ingredients when they are making a potion.  I would like to find a better solution.

    I want this too, the game should just be using the ingredients in the chests and other storage places. It's too much to carry around. I should also be able to upgrade objects from storage supplies too.

    @Tenebrous_Sage You could put your minerals etc. in a display cabinet, of course depending on which expansion packs you have, and leave these in a closed room. Just close the door for every Sim but the one you want to acces the goodies.
