How do I add a gate to a deck fence - without it ending up in midair…?

@Rename23321Additionally, after adding the gate in this manner, I was able to then select 'move lot' and move the whole home and porch back to within the one tile space from the lot end (like in your image) and the Sim used the gate just fine.

Edit: Sorry for the second reply. My computer was fighting with the reply options earlier and it did not allow me to do anything but a 'Quick Reply', which it would not let me edit or add photos to.
