How to store power Off-The-Grid ?

Hello,

I've been searching how to store power with the Off-the-grid Lot Challenge. I'm currently playing in the Henford-on-Bagley neighborhood, but i also have the Eco Lifestyle pack.

I have wind turbines and solar panels, as well as appliances that work Off-the-grid, but once night falls - i almost always lose the power i got during that day! Is there a way to resolve this issue?

I tried researching with Copilot - they mention a Power Storage but i cannot find this object no matter where i look....

Help please! Thank you :)

Vicky

  • VickyRC  There is no object or way to store OTG generated power actively.  What you have to do is install enough solar panels or wind generators to generate enough power to carry you through the night.  So, add either a panel or turbine and see if that gets you through the night.  If not, add another and keep adding until you get through the night.  Another way to do that is add up the consumption of all the power using objects in the house and then then add enough panels and/turbines to cover the total.  Also, lighting can be a lot of your electrical load so where you can, switch out electric light fixtures for candles. Also, watch what you have sims doing, especially in larger households, and have the doing things that don't involve using electricity at night like using the piano, guitar, violin, pipe organ, painting, etc.  You can also use the generators when the power dies during the night.  But to do that you need to use the bug boxes and raise the insects to provide fuel.

    Hope this helps.

  • Also make sure in your sim's phone in the bills information, set to store power and water. I do this and if enough ways to generate power and water it makes your bills cheaper. I hope this helps and makes sense.

  • You also need to make sure, if you don’t want the off-the-grid capable appliances to use the energy you’ve generated, that you click on them and choose “turn off utility usage” each time you start generating a power surplus.
