How to make the game randomly generate certain types of townies/household?

Is there a certain way to make the game generate certain types of townies? For example a married couple with or without children, single father, family with female child, family with male teen, etc.

I only have base game, and currently playing with auto age off for unplayed household. I noticed that when the game generates a family, it always a family of single mother with female teen and a male child. And only one randomly generated family that consist of a married couple with male child, and I don’t know what the trigger for it.

I tried to go to park or playgrounds a few times, erasing the household that I do not want, to make the game to generate new family with kids,  but it always generate a household of single mother, female teen, and male child. I have never seen the opposite type nor any new family of married couple with children again.

I am playing on a new save and trying a new gameplay ideas where I mostly control one family and only age up other premade/randomly generated family when I decided to marry a sim from those household. I’m not sure if this is another known issue, but my sims has been giving birth to male babies only for around 5 generations, and I wanted to have a story where my heir marry their BFF from childhood but could not as I could not make the game randomly generate a family with female child, so I just wait until they age up to teen to choose their lifetime partner.

I know that there are mods that help to create various type of household but I don’t want to rely on mods. So I would like to know if there a ways to trigger the game to generate certain types of townies.

Below are what I noticed from my own observations on how to trigger certain types of sims.
Going to park or playgrounds: generate family of single mother with female teen and male child.
Going to bar in Oasis Springs: generate female young adults bar regulars.
Going to lot with Teen neighborhood trait: Generate single teen (male or female) household (no parents)

But I noticed my game have a few single males and females unemployed young adult sims, so I would like to know if there are other triggers to generate those, especially household of married couples, single father and household with female child. Please advise. Thank you.

Comparing your experiences between before and after the neighborhood stories was introduced, it came to my mind that  because neighborhood stories has the option for adoption and have a baby, maybe they thought there’s no need to frequently generating family households, as the features will help to expand the family. But then it make no sense as sims won’t autonomously get married through the feature, not sure if there’s a pack that made it possible, but through my gameplay, they can only propose, but i need to control them to get them get married, and i don’t want my service sims to lose their jobs because I played as them to make them get married😕.

For me, if the game at least can generate a single father household, or more variety of different types of children (like the one you get from the save before neighborhood stories was introduced) for a randomly generated family, I won’t mind much if the game not able to autonomously make sims marry. Or at least make a married couple so that i can use the have a baby feature on them.

About culling, i think i never experienced sims culling through my gameplay (been playing for around 3 years). I only noticed the ghost culling, and also relationships culling when your sims knew too much sims. Never encountered the notification about sims moving off-grid in my gameplay yet. Probably it is true like you said, as more pack you have, more premade sims exist in the game, so culling take place more compared to base game player like me🤔.

I was only able to login (but didn’t play much) for unlocking the rewards for the spongebob’s collab last time. I wanted to check if recent Coach’s update changed anything but after reading reports about photos getting black, i’m scared to lose my 20+ generations of photos, so I will wait until they fix it in the next patch before I start playing again🥲.

Sorry as well for my belated reply, but is has been a bit busy here 🙂 And sorry to hear that you’ve been having issues both health-wise as well as with the forums.  Hopefully, everything will be better again very soon 😊

Now that I think about it, I’ve realized that in my previous post I probably made it sound as though the introduction of Neighborhood Stories is to blame for how random townies are generated. However, I don’t think that is the case as I have saves on the computer that I’ve started after the feature was implemented which still have the variety among the randomly generated households that I saw in my first test on the PlayStation. But these are all older saves. Instead, I actually think the problem is more recent and my guess would be that in part it has to do with their attempts to optimize the game and avoid save files becoming too large (and possibly also to cater to the players who have complained about too many townies being generated).

Unfortunately, whenever it was that they changed it and whatever changes it was that they made, the alterations are far from optimal especially if you play with just the basegame. It is a lifesimulation after all and I would expect the other households to show a variety in terms of family constellations just like real life and not just consist of either single sim households or ones with a single mother with a teen daughter and a child son no matter if you’re playing with basegame or multiple packs.

Seeing that you are only able to get various multi-sim households on the first day if you delete the premades and then pretty much only single mom-female teen-male child households after that seems like there must be some kind of error in the coding.

In the copy that I made of my event save to try and see which multi-sim households I would get, I have been seeing a little more variation, however, I’m also getting the feeling that part of it has to do with me having more packs. I’ve had my sim go to a bar where I’ve placed a couple of bowling lanes (from the bowling pack) and that seems to have helped generate households with a teen - mostly either the single female, teen daughter, child son household or a single female with a male teen, but also a few couples with a teen son. I’ve also sent my sim to restaurants (from the Dine Out pack) which seems to have created a few households with children.
So currently in this test save I have:

    • 7 x single mom with a teen daughter and a child son
    • 5 x single mom with a teen son
    • 2 x couple (man and wife) with a teen son
    • 1 x single male with 2 children (a boy and a girl)
    • 1 x couple (man and wife) with a teen son and child daughter
    • 1 x couple (man and wife) with 2 children (a boy and a girl)
    • 1 x couple (male) with a teen son, a child son and a toddler son

As you can see, the most common multi-sim household is the one you’re getting as well, and so far none of the couples have produced a baby despite having that option on in Neighborhood Stories. Only the premades have gotten babies, and as I didn’t delete any of them for this test, they still have all the babies that they had gotten earlier in my event save, which was a lot, but I haven’t checked if they’ve gotten more.

And then I have 3 additional multi-sim households that I’ve mentioned earlier as well. I believe they were all generated during the bug a couple of months ago where using a computer would generate households with a style influencer. I only deleted the randomly generated households with children when I made this test copy of my event save so these households stayed. They consist of:

    • One elderly couple (husband and wife)
    • 2 x female couples - one of them owns a dog

My sim is friends with both of the female couples and both couples have called several times to ask if they should try for a baby. So far my sim has said yes every time, but only the couple with the dog has had any success. They’ve gotten 2 babies (a boy and a girl), not twins.

Oh yeah, and then I have about 330 randomly generated single sim households and around 90 premade households, the majority of which are multi-sim households, I think, although it could be 50-50, I forgot to check.

[I want to add some thoughts to the other part of your post as well, but I keep getting interrupted 🙄😑😆 Hopefully, I’ll find some time tomorrow]
