I'm running out of space on my laptop, need to move the game entirely

Hi, So I currently have the Sims 4 on my laptop and I've been playing it for a while with cc and mods. But my laptop is running out of space, I'm about to buy an external hard drive. Will everything transfer to the hard drive including my saved households. And how will I move the files? I also read that you can't like cut the Electronics folder from documents and paste it in the hard drive. Is this true?

Rightclick the game in Origin and select Move. It will take some time.

It is true that you can not just cut the Electronic Arts folder and move it to another drive If it was another internal drive it would be straight forward to move the entire Documents folder. For an external drive you will need to use a symbolic link which is not as easy and if you ever start the game without having the external drive connected you may face problems recreating the setup. If you would like to explore this route anyway check this out. https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/02/moving-windows-documents-folder-to-external-drive-via-symbolic-link.html

Notice that the game running from an external drive may be very slow. A better option is to upgrade the internal drive or if possible add a second internal drive.
