Ok, I just noticed this with a family I made straight out of CAS. It consists of two half-brothers (there are no parents made, so they have the unknown parent as a placeholder in the family tree). When viewing from either brother, the unknown parent doesn't appear and there is no connection shown that there is a relationship between them. When viewing the tree with any of the kids, the unknown grandparent appears. It looks like the fix works for trees with known grandparents but not for trees with unknown grandparents.
