@AndyZhang2896, there are 2 boxes that you can store some small objects in . The 2 boxes are called "The Ornate Beauty" and "Buyer Beware" . You can find them in Build/Buy Mode in the "Objects by Function" section under the "Storage" sort (or just type their names in the Search bar). Here are some pictures; all of the objects shown can go in either box except the wooden stool and the flower stand on the right, and the pet toys at the bottom. (Any toys should go in the toyboxes and pet toys in the pet toyboxes.) The Buyer Beware is the wooden chest one and The Ornate Beauty is the other one:
So, most items that are clickable and draggable in Live Mode can go in these chests! :eahigh_file: These chests might not be quite what you want, but at least they give you some options!
And I absolutely agree that our inventories need to be categorized! I've wanted this for the longest time!😞 It is especially bad and confusing for collectors and gardeners. Gardeners will always have to keep some amount of either fish or other produce in their inventories until they can get all of their plants to the highest level of quality! And now that we have spellcasters, they need a variety of object in their inventories no matter what if they want to keep making potions! I also love the idea to have a sort for quality of ingredient! 🙂
Thank you for the information about the boxes. I wasn't sure whether or not they could be used to store things or if they were decorative.
Unfortunately, the boxes don't help when my sim is at work trying to find something in the inventory to pull out & use or trying to see how many of something he has. The current sorting system doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it. I have no idea how it sorts things-- it's not alphabetical or by type. It's not even by most recently acquired because sometimes stuff I just got will be in the middle. Its a jumbled mess.
I was hoping someone could mod a search feature or sorting thing.
What I'd love is a search function to search by name for an object. I'd also like to be able to sort things by name (descending or ascending) as well as by quantity, function, type, etc. So all items with focus aura would show up if I chose by emotional aura, or all metals would show up if I chose metals or all crystals, plants, etc... It would also be nice to have a way to stack all things of a certain type because I have multiple separate stacks of apples and such and I don't know why.
- @suceress I hope they added such feature to the base game though. Not everyone (including me) like a mod.
This is not a very complex thing to do and I hope they implement this in the near future.
The current inventory display box might be too small. I hate scrolling through it because sometimes I just passed the items I want to find, end up scrolling up and down several times.I agree. I don't know if EA will actually take the time to implement it though. I really hope they will.
It seems we've had the same problem with scrolling past something. I wish we could re-size and move the inventory box. My eyesight has been getting worse with age. I now need to use very large fonts & icons on my computer to find stuff & it's very difficult for me to see the little images in a sim's inventory. A mode for people with eyesight problems would be nice to make things larger.
WE ARE FINALLY GETTING INVENTORY MANAGEMENT!!
