Inventory from plopped house showed up in neighboring house instead

Because there have been a lot of bug fixes lately and not all of them work retroactively, I have been playing in a new save. I played it for a couple of weeks and definitely noticed some improvements so I think that was a wise choice. I wanted to go in and add all the lots I have built so I can play them again (in this case, I dropped lots for all of the Parched Prospect section of Oasis Springs).

As I was going through the houses to make sure everything was OK, I found one of them was a totally empty shell. I thought I must have accidentally plopped it unfurnished so I replopped it and moved on. I  play the Roomies and moved them into their new house and started playing. The lag was terrible and I never had issues with the lot before so I wasn't sure what was going on. Then I discovered that all of the missing objects from the other house were in this house's inventory! I deleted everything in the inventory and yes the lag from having an entire house in inventory was gone. However, when I had a Sim recycle from inventory on the recycler, around a dozen more items from that other house were available to recycle. None of those objects showed up in the house inventory or any of the personal inventories of the sims in the house, only the recycler menu.

How is it even possible for this to happen? Is this what happens in a corrupt save? Should I start a new one?

It's very hard to tell if a save is going corrupt or not but if you can't duplicate it anymore, I personally think you can just play on and keep regular backups.

I was more hoping I could get a reply on whether this means the save is bad than I was thinking you can replicate it as a bug. It’s fine. I’m abandoning it.

So you had mod in at the time it happened ?

Not sure if it's worth testing if you can't duplicate it anymore either.

I am on PC and I haven't been able to replicate it. Honestly I have been playing the Sims since House Party and have never before seen items from one lot show up on a different one in any version of the game, which is why it was so alarming to me.

I dropped all the lots into a new save with the mods I use and it was fine. I dropped them again with no mods installed and it was fine. I've plopped down houses hundreds and hundreds of times over the years and never seen this happen. I wish I had thought to made a copy of it before I deleted all the items so you could have it. I'm going to start a new save when the next patch comes just to be on the safe side.

The lots in question are 3 or 4 years old, CC free (but heavily furnished), and are available in my gallery downloads if that helps you in any way. "Oasis Adventure" is the one that plopped empty, "Roomies Mansion" is the inventory where all those items showed up (I plopped Roomies Mansion first).

  • Could you please provide the following information

    • Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.
    • What platform are you playing on (PC, Mac, Playstation, XBox)
    • Does it happen again on a new save ?
    • Is it only that one lot that does this ?
