Is Gender Preference REALLY a thing in the Sims 4?

So I am curious, does it really matter if I chose which gender my sim will be attracted too? Because when I installed Lovestruck, my straight sims are attracted to anyone now regardless of the gender...

@LoveBear9384 Did they have the crush before you change the settings ? Any mods/cc in your game ?

@LoveBear9384 Hello, Under the second tab when making preferences in CAS "Sexual Orientation" did you select "yes" to "This Sim is exploring romantically". Because even if you have selected a woman to like other women, but marked "yes" to exploration, they will still flirt and show interest in male sims.
