Is it safe to place lots in a new save with blacked out photos?

I'm on PS4. I've got three saves going, and two separate saves had two builds I created that caught the 'black photo bug'. I hadn't been playing for a while, and I hadn't played in those builds, so I never got to save the photos beforehand. Anyways, I've been wanting to start a brand new save, and I wanted the two builds to be a part of the new save. I removed the photos and placed them in the Sims' inventory and was able to save the builds in my library. But I wanted to know if adding these builds (even with the photos deleted out of them) would corrupt my new save.

Overall I kind of wanted to archive one save, then start the brand new save, so overall I'd just have two save files. On the one I'm archiving, I was not able to place these builds on lots. I'm assuming it was because of the photo bug (I posted this particular issue in the console bug section on this forum). Since I wasn't able to place them whole, I ended up saving the builds as rooms and piecing them back together on the lots I wanted, and that worked. But the main question is, am I safe to do this method on the new save, or is it safer to rebuild the households from scratch in the brand new save? I rarely build, so I dread having to redo them.

  • Hi Bbwolf20

I've not heard of photos corrupting lots.

Do you have those lots that gave you issues placing in the gallery still and could post the name here ?

Do you want to preserve the photos or do you not care about them ?

I don't care too much about preserving the photos. It wasn't that many photos in the two households anyhow. I was just assuming the photo bug corrupted the entire builds because I was unable to place the entire builds in a lot on another save. I tried multiple ways to do it, but all it ever did was show the 'move house' cursor with no building. Also I was having difficulty saving the lots to my library and even downloading them on the gallery. I kept getting a "Timed out" message. I was able to place other builds just fine, but not the ones that had the blacked out photos. When googling, I thought I saw somewhere that one reason I might not be able to place a build was because it had blacked-out photos, but I can't find that specific link again.

I have deleted the whole game and reinstalled it, and naturally The Sims reinstalled with the latest update. And after that, I was still unable to place the full build down on the lot. It just kept showing the 'move house' cursor, so I had to put the build down room by room. I will try again to see if I can post the full builds on the gallery.

I was able to upload one of the lots onto the gallery. The second one wouldn't upload to the gallery. Just kept giving me an error issue. The one that worked is called Pizzeria and Home. I's under my name BWOLF_20. I suppose you can see if you can upload this lot okay. Tried it again today and still couldn't load it onto a lot. Keep me updated :)

The time out issue has different theories. Someone said it was a lot trait for them. I have been able to upload lots with black photos fine.

Downloading also can have lots of issues.

If you don't care about the photos I would just delete them all before uploading I guess,

EDIT: Looks like this error: 'System Error' when placing lot | EA Forums - 12116161

Don't know what the theory on this is. Would be good if you could post and upvote there.
