A similar idea is to just use the room like a mini-Buy catalog. Open the room, click on the item you want, and place the item on your lot. You don't have to actually place the room on your lot.
You might also find it helpful to use Filter Items to find things that fit particular categories, such as Style or Pack. Search is also very useful when you know the name of something but not where to look for it.
