@ERIHPPAS_X Do you have mods or CC in your Mods folder? If so, do a "vanilla" test to see if a mod/CC is your problem: Move (not copy) the Mods folder to the desktop (or rename it), delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
Thank you for your reply. I have carried out what you suggested and it sadly hasn't resolved the issue or made any change. So I assume my CC are all okay and not causing the problem?
When I press Alt and [ or ] I can see the green grid highlight getting smaller or bigger, but when I click the mouse placing the object (or letting go of it) it just remains the standard size.
I deleted the cache file - do you recommend deleting that regularly to clear the cache regardless of any faults/issues?
If you have any other suggestions I'd be so grateful! It's such a minor fault, but so inconvenient as I'm all about builds and less about gameplay!

@ERIHPPAS_X Could you please try testing in a new save in a "clean" folder?
- Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
- Launch Sims 4
- Start with New to test
Localthumbcache has to be deleted any time you remove or replace a Mods folder file.

@luthienrising Thank you - after trying Sims in a 'clean' folder I have found that many items do rescale (sofa, table, bookcase, TV), But not kitchen islands. I put my original Sims 4 folder back and went into game, found this is the same - perhaps just kitchen islands and units that are no rescaling anymore for some reason.
This should be fine to work around, as with clutter and decorative items, I guess I will just need to start putting them on tables and then move into place holding down 'Alt'. So strange how this is suddenly an issue though. Thank you ever so much for your help - I really appreciate it!
