jungle

I have been trying to explore the jungle adventure for 2 weeks now, I am seriously starting to feel like I wasted my money. I haven't played sims since sims 3 generations.

I buy the supplies, spider spray, lightening spray, fire foam, the archaeology table, the plasma bat bait...you name it I bought it.

I head to the beginning of the trail and I machete the way through the opening and I always end up at a plane crash site where I cannot access the next gateway to keep exploring. What am I missing or what am I doing wrong? There is a plane crash wreckage and a bunch of dirt excavation piles that offer the same relics over and over again, the skull or the knife etc. I have accessed the treasure chest a few times, but I cannot seem to get past this area and I never get to the bridge or temple, it always says "this cannot be accessed on this vacation, maybe next trip"

    Ok, on any given trip to Selvadorada, there are always 2 gates that are inaccessible and give that message.  It is random which 2 they are but the pass through gates at the Trailhead and between the 2nd and 3rd areas are always open as are the gates to the Royal Baths and Temple. The gates to the plane crash area, the 2 that lead to fishing spots and the gate inside the Royal Baths are the 4 that are randomly accessible with only 2 being accessible on any given vacation.

    Since you have gotten through the 1st gate at the trailhead and the plane crash gate, then you have the mechanics down on how to get through the gates in general.  The plane crash gate is a dead end and all that is there is a chest and 3 dig spots.  

    So after doing everything you can in the plane crash area, you need to backtrack to the 2nd area and as @jpkarlsen said, go the other way.  You will cross the footbridge and find another dig spot.  Keep going up the ramp and you will come to a woohoo bush and just beyond another gate.  Go through that gate and you will find 4 gates, 2 woohoo bushes, a wild emotion tree and a dig spot.  The gates lead to the Royal Baths, the Temple, a fishing area with another chest, and the island with another chest, a dig spot and a fishing spot.  The two gates that lead to the fishing spots are dead ends.  The one to the Royal Baths is not.  You get to the final area from a gate inside the Royal Baths and that area also has a chest plus 2 wild emotion trees and a few other harvestables.  The Royal Baths also has a wild emotion tree and a dig spot. 

    The Royal Baths and Temple gates are the only 2 places you get a travel selection panel.  You also have to wait for 18 hours after you have completed the temple before that gate will reopen.  Since EL though, the temple gate timer seems to be off and you have to spend those 18 hours in the Temple zone.  Going back to the Market zone will cause the timer to reset.  Until that gets fixed, it is better to stay in one of the rentals in the Temple Zone or camp at the Trailhead.  I have found that doing that lets me get back into the Temple on time.

    @Mriverapq Yup, the plane crash area is just a side trail, not the main trail. There are many side trails to explore in the jungle and they can be randomly locked so if you can't get through an opening try again on another vacation (not just a different day on the same vacation but a completely different vacation). I've never seen the main trail openings locked but maybe it's possible?
