Logging back in some Sims are no longer in their careers

I switch between families and after a while playing with one family I've checked in with another and one of the Sims is no longer in the Scientist career. The panel says they don't have a job. I wen...

@RocketMoonCat do you have Neighbourhood Stories enabled? This allows more story progression through the game. With it turned off or tuned, Sims should stay in their careers.

  I do. I thought I had it set to unplayed families only but i will double check!

    @RocketMoonCat If it's NS you should have an notification about it when you check the stories on the mailbox.
