Missing Shards of Time

Well, as you can see this picture above, I've completed the quests before this one, but I exited mid game because my sims forgot to do his term paper. So I went back to the game to find the shard has been missing, yet I have 'passed' it. Some forum said that to check my mail but there's no prompt leading there, does anyone have solution for this? Thanks in advance!
