@spiritedtreasure Just to clarify - is the kid currently walking or crawling? I ask because you mentioned both.
If they’re still crawling, it sounds like they’re in the infant life stage. You can try foods with them in a high chair, but won’t be able to use flash cards or teach them things like shapes/walking/potty/basic needs until they age up to toddler. They can be bottle fed or breastfed, and sleep in a crib.
If they’re walking, then that sounds like they should be in the toddler stage, and you should have the various teaching options. They’d sleep in a toddler bed rather than a crib, and be a little easier to care for.
If still an infant, that would also explain your issues with the parent “malfunctioning” until you played as the infant. In my opinion, the autonomous “check infant” action is a bit overpowered and the logic of what infant actions can and can’t be canceled by the parent is less than ideal: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Check-infant-toddler-interrupts-all-attempts-to-care-for/m-p/12393705#M242912

I aged the baby up immediately, because when they are in a bassinet they are an object. After they were a baby, she put her on the floor and I clicked on the baby and had her crawling around instead of scooting. She was actually crawling. Then when she got as many milestones as I wanted, I aged her up again into a toddler. I believe this was happening when she was crawling around. She’s grown now of course. But the problem is, there was no pick up baby or check baby or other thing in her list of stuff to do there was just nothing. I don’t have the PlayStation on at the moment, but I believe I do have growing together. I bought it in the Christmas sale.
Maybe the pack was the problem I don’t know. I don’t know if I have parenthood or not, I don’t think so. And I do think I have growing together though. It was on sale. I don’t normally play with infants, but I wanted my ancient spellcaster to have a baby. The baby is also an ancient spellcaster.
edit: I never bought a high chair.
- PipMenace2 years agoHero@spiritedtreasure The parent won't necessarily have anything else in their queue beyond what you told them. But the infant's queue might have "watch" or "fuss" or "try to go night night" etc. and your parent Sim wanting to interact with them doesn't auto-cancel these things. They'll stand frozen waiting for the infant to finish and/or the action will time out and cancel because the infant wasn't "free" to accept it. That's why it works when you play as the infant - you can cancel the action to cry because they're hungry and replace it with be fed. Whereas the parent trying to queue feed while the infant's crying just has to wait until they finish (or until you switch to the infant to cancel).
Growing together does have some things you can teach the infant - if you got them all the way to able to crawl while having Growing Together installed, then you certainly found that and I congratulate you! - but the other actions you asked about (flashcards and learning to walk) are only available after they become a toddler.
Congrats on your young spellcaster! And good luck with future Sim infants... they are definitely a lot of work.
