New save old household

Hi. I have a corrupted save. I need to start a new save but I have a supersim with around half way to achive all that the game gives that comes with the super sim title. Aspirations, traits, special connection family ties, top level jobs and many diplomas with honor. What shall I do in order to have all of these in the new save so I can carry on with the sim to complete the supersim challenge?

I never had to do anything to fix my game before. This is so new to me. Can I please have some advise in a simply way to follow what am I to do to have my supersim in the new save. Thank you.

  • Hi there,

Of the data you listed that you want to transfer, relationships and items like photos are difficult to move as they belong to "that Sim." For example, collectibles will remain in the house if you save each item individually in My Library, and they become the property of the Sim who purchased the house. I haven't tested whether game are recognized as same Sim to the Sim who purchased the house and the Sim in the photo, so I don't know. I think the same applies to diplomas. Achievements remain as the Sim's own data, so graduating from university should be recorded in the profile.

Regarding relationships, if they are family, saving them as a single household in the Library will retain the recognition of them being family. I don't remember if the relationship values remained the same. Sorry.

You mentioned starting with a new save, but if you could describe the extent of the save corruption in more detail, someone might know a solution.

In any case, please specify the platform you are playing on.

    Thank you to answer.

The corruption I notice is when I visit a nightclub or park there is no sim activity at all. In the club/bar there is no bar tender and not one sims comes in and enjoy the drink or mingle with other sims. Not my own created sims nor npc. The venue is empty.  The save I have issue with is modded but for now I removed all mods and scrypts. Still the save act as I described it above. When I start a new save with a new sim cretaed in CAS the bar/club is functioning as the game intended to be.

Regarding pictures and sim inventory items. I understand I will lose those. I got an advise to save the family pictures to my gallery and place them in the new build in the new save when I move the household in. I hope in this way I can hang onto the family memories. I can go without collectibles. Take time but I can re gather those. My only worry is the diploma that the sim receive after attending the graduation ceremony. I am not looking forward to go to university again.

    Hi,

Your description sounds like it's related to mods. While the symptoms are slightly different, there's a bug report about the bartender issue that hasn't fixed yet.

If you're planning to migrate your data, be sure to make a copy of your important data before you start. Keeping the original data will prevent you from losing everything. I think it would be a good idea to wait for advice from someone more knowledgeable. Since we know there's an update on the 17th, you might want to look around the Mods & Custom Content threads and bug reports in the meantime. Good luck. I hope your precious Sim starts work again.

That is the thing. When I load the save that modded but at this time I took all the mods out the bar issue is present. I know little of the game and mod mechanism, in my mind I thought if I take the mods out the save would behave as a none modded save. (even thought it was contained mods when I made the save) Unless some file holds the mod data elsewhere in my Sims 4 game folder that I am not aware that need to take out too.

Bottom line if no mods in how can find which mod causing the bar problem?

I will wait til 17th for any improvement might that day bring. Thank you for helping.

  • Bulletdodger27  Not to throw a wrench into the works here, but what you described as corruption with sims not showing up at venues isn't corruption imo.  Like Pick-a-boo_doo said, it's probably a mod issue.  Corruption is when you game starts throwing a lot of LEs, lots become inaccessible or if you can get into them, they have gone missing, sims disappearing for no reason and other things that stop you from playing the game.  I did a search here and found this post:  Sims not going to any public venues ( gym, outside public spaces, etc) | EA Forums - 12787059  and there is a bug report for the issue here:  Community lots are completely empty | EA Forums - 12682224
Take a look at these two and see if either matches what you have going on.

If not, then the first thing you should do is delete the localthumbcache file and run a repair.  If the problem is still present, then test your mods after making sure they are all up to date.  While you are doing that, if the mod has settings, then check those too to make sure a setting isn't causing the issue.  And if you got your mods from Curseforge, check the creator's blog, website, patreon, etc. to make sure you've got the latest.  Curseforge isn't always the most current a lot of times.  You don't need to test your CC as CC doesn't usually create this kind of problem.  Test your mods one at the time.  You can test your CC after the mods if you want to.

There is one thing you can try if sims are still not showing up to venues after you've tested your mods and have done a repair is to increase the number of sims in a zone via an MCCC option.  But before you attempt that, you need to make sure that they are not showing up rather than being slow to show up.  They could be showing up but are spawning a long way away from the venue.  Myshuno Meadows in San Myshuno is a good example of that in my game where the NPCs spawn at the furthest spawn spot rather than the closest one in the park. If that is happening to you, then you just need to wait a few minutes for them to show up at your venue.

As for getting the University diploma back when you move a sim between saves via your Library, you can leave them on the wall, save the house to your Library, reinstall the house in a new save and the diploma along with every other visible collectible will still be there in the new save.  But anything that was connected to a sim will no longer be connected.  It doesn't matter in most cases.  The diploma is a bit different as there is a cheat to get them back and they will be connected.  So, once you have the sim in a new save, turn on testingcheats.  Then shift click on the sim and look for the pack cheats and find the DU cheat menu and use the option to generate a new diploma.  As soon as you do, it'll show up in the sim's inventory.

    Hope this helps.
