Off Grid Lot with power generators

I got the off the grid lot and added power generators like windmills and solar roof tiles however, some stuff still says can't work off the grid even though I got power generators like windmills.  You can collect water for your water needs, but power is another matter.  I think it is still broken, as some of sims cell phones don't work with off the grid lot trait.  I wonder if its just the green energy stuff that I am having problems with because I can get abundant of water, just not power.

    You probably don't have enough power producing objects. If there is more load than what the solar panels, windmills and generators produce, it looks like you don't have anything at all since nothing will work until you have more supply than demand.   Take a look at every object on the lot that uses power and add the consumption up.  Once you have that, you just need enough of solar panels, etc. to cover the load.  Lights are really bad so try replacing any with candles,
