joshneku Thanks. The reason I asked about the hardware issues was because files can be corrupted when you access or transfer them when you have a hardware problem i.e. a computer component s failing but not dead yet. Doesn't sound like that's your problem.
Now, there are a lot of issues going on for about the last year or so with save files corrupting. What you described are the main symptoms - keep getting booted to the map or world screen when trying to load a lot. Even if you can get into a lot, it might have disappeared and/or all the other lots in the zone look like they did out of the box (default state). The bug fix team is working on the issue but there seems to be many causes, so it is taking them a lot of time to fix the issue. The only advice or suggestions I can offer you at this point is to salvage what you can from your save and start a new one or play an older version of the save if you have it. There is no guarantee that it won't happen again though. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.
