Oversensitive profanity filter (normal words being flagged as "forbidden")

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What is your current game version number? 1.105.345.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs except High School Years, Growing Together, Horse Ranch and For Rent. All game packs except My Wedding Stories. All stuff packs.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Type in this description and try publish it to the gallery: The home of collector and famous asexual artist Namari Kumandron and her pets Luna the cat, Bentley the dog and a TON of frog friends. (Built originally on the "Bedlington Boathouse" lot) *MOVE OBJECTS IS A MUST BEFORE PLACING THIS* #singlesimhome #artist #collector #gardener #doghome #cathome #frogs Or just type "pufferfish nigiri" somewhere in your title or description.
What happens when the bug occurs? Names or words that aren't inappropriate, vulgar or offensive are being flagged as "forbidden words" and preventing me from posting my stuff (sims and lots) to the gallery.
What do you expect to see? My stuff should post without trouble if I am not being profane or offensive.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

So this is at least the third time this has happened to me where something completely fine is getting flagged. It seems to be flagging my sim's name "Namari Kumandron" (I had to remove both names before it let me post from what I saw). I have had this issue while trying to post stuff about my sim "Raven Nigiri" creator/inventor of the pufferfish nigiri dish. Namari is an actual name of arabic origins that means "truly pure of heart" (from what I've read) and "Nigiri" is literally a dish in the game. I do not understand why these are forbidden words. My best guess is the game is confusing words with an "n" and "i" for a racist slur.

I'm just so sick of writing a nice description for my lots/sims and then not being able to post it even though I didn't do anything wrong. Especially since there are people who have posted actually racist or questionable stuff. I'd understand if I typed in the f word or something but that is not what's happening. The stuff I'm writing is completely PG and unoffensive.

    You can report this here.

ETA: Due to crosslinguistic compatability issues with the filters, the game often flags inoffensive words in one language because they are offensive or contain an offensive sequence of letters in another language, or sometimes context. Some inoffensive words have also been erroneously flagged in the past for seemingly no reason that anyone can think of online, or due to a term being used as an insult despite not being insulting itself (this has happened to some gender and orientation-related terminology in the past, for example, though I don't know the status of those words in the galler filters now). Hopefully the filters will be updated soon.

Hi! I'm SimmerStar4 (they/them). I'm not an expert on game issues, so don't take me as one! I'm just a Sims player who wants to try and help fellow players, and who finds game bugs and issues interesting.

  • Also, the flagging of pufferfish Nigiri one for sure definitely was still occurring without mods. (I don't think this issue could be caused by my one birth certificate mod anyways)

Omg thank you so much I had no idea that survey existed. Reported this particular bug and will check tomorrow if the word “nigiri” is still flagged. If it is I will also report that too.

thanks so much for your help :D
