Question about the game making two sims engaged when you don't want them to be,
I get the notification from a friend sim, that they found a ring in their romantic sim's bag, and want to know if they should say yes or no. No matter the response, the two end up engaged whether or not I, as the player, am ready for them to be. WHY?? And how can I stop this? Is there a game fix or a mod to stop this from happening? In both times this has happened to me, I already planned on the engagement happening, but the timing to be at my choice and timeline. It really spoils a special time/event for the said sims, and my plans for them. Anyone have any ideas, and think this is wrong?

Here's a workaround that you could try. Have the sims "get married instantly" by being in control of one of the engaged sims, and click on the other and find that option under Romance. They will instantly be married.
Then type CTRL + SHIFT + C to open the cheat console, and type "testingcheats on" without the quotation marks, and hit enter.
Now you can shift + click on your sim and choose "Clear Marriages" and you shouldn't lose the full status of your relationship that way, making it easier to get engaged again and do it the way you want.
