Questions about new event and update (PS4)

Hi all,

1: I'm having trouble with the new event. I'm playing in a save I'm building and changing into a huge save file I can use in any future gameplay with everything already established. That said, I have long since replaced the museum in Willow Creek with apartments. Unfortunately, I'm unable to continue the current event because it requires me to go to that specific museum. I placed the original from the gallery on a different lot but that didn't work. Changing my Blue Velvet Lounge back to a Nightclub worked to get through that portion of the event, but I'm stuck now. Can I remedy this without starting a whole new save?

2: As for the update (which I love btw), will Saving As my current save into a new one allow me to have access to the new townie family trees? I don't have my hopes up but it would be amazing. If I could, would it mess up the townies I've edited but not delved into gameplay with?

I imagine I'll need to just grit my teeth and save each lot and family I've made to my library, make a new save, and replace everything accordingly 😅 Will me replacing the townies in a new save with their updated counterparts in CAS mess up the established family trees? Like ones I've given siblings or whose traits I've changed?

This is long and convoluted, thank you for your patience and kindness

  • DreadQueen777  On the event, you could start a new throwaway save just for this part of the event.  The reward items are tied to your account, not a specific save so that is possible.  Or you could start a new save.  After you place the sim, go to the map and the WC museum lot and save a copy to your Library.  Then go back to your play save and make a copy of the same lot to your Library.  Then replace the current lot with the original museum.  Finish the event.  Replace the museum with your lot from your Library.  Either way should work so the choice is yours.

On the family tree, the short answer is no.  As I understand it, established family trees in existing saves will be unaffected by the new family trees.  What I'm not clear on yet, is whether new additions to the tree in an existing save will use the new or old way from now on or keep using the old way.  I suspect that they will keep using the old way but don't know for sure.  New saves will use the new way though.

On the townies, afaik, you aren't able to that.  There is no way to edit family trees unless you can do it with the cheat in CAS.  That has always been hit and miss.  Idk if that will still work either.

    Hope this helps.
