Re: broken lot in Newcrest??

@pr3ttylady82

  • What's the name of the lot you're placing the home onto?
  • Does this happen when you place a specific home from your library, or any home?
  • Does this happen if you place this home on a different lot?
  • Does this happen if you create a simple home to test with on this lot?
  • When you tested in a new, vanilla game save, did you do so as follows (spoiler tag), also removing the mentioned cache file?
Spoiler
Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving.

  • Hi! I apologize for the late response but the lot is 40x30 and it's called Optimist's Outlook in Newcrest. The problem happens when I place any home on the lot whether from my library or the gallery. It does not happen on any other lot. I copied my game folder and moved it to the my desktop and removed all cache files including the localthumbcache then created a new game folder. I also thought the problem was my save file so I literally deleted the save file through the game and repopulated all my worlds again with my saved sims and homes in a new clean vanilla no mods save. The moment I got to that specific lot the constant loading began. I had to force close the game not to mention the game continues to crash everyday now.

@pr3ttylady82 Did you put the same house on that lot as in your other save game or does it happen with any lot you put down there even in a new save ?

Did you use any residetial rentals ?
  • I answered these questions in my previous posts but no, I did not use the same house and I ran into the same problem in my clean save which is why I reached out for support. I do not have any residential rentals because I do not have the For Rent expansion pack. I also experienced something new when I tried to put down a different house on a different lot from my library it said "corrupted file" and gave me the option to delete that house yet it's still there. All I know is lately it's been frustrating to play this game.

@pr3ttylady82 Just a couple of days ago I ran into issues entering a lot I had built that worked previously with one of my households (a full house with a butler, ranch hand, and a couple of roommates). I get continual load/freezing now on that lot... or the game just crashes. So I tried to evict them and re-place the home from worldview. Nope... continual loading each attempt (or a crash). I could only attempt to replace this lot from worldview (it won't let me enter in 'edit' from worldview - so I also had no option to bulldoze it from within the lot), and it would not re-place that original ranch from my library from worldview, plus it would not complete a placing of a different home from my library that was small. All of this testing was in Chestnut Ridge on the 64x64 lot (Red Roan Field).

I then went to a different game save where this same lot had never been used. IF enter the unused lot from worldview > edit I could place that same big ranch just fine, and it placed in probably 15-20 seconds. However, if I try to place the (ranch) lot from worldview, it crashes the game (or does continual loading that & I have to 'force quit' to exit). If I tried to place a small home on that same lot from worldview, it did place without freezing or crashing.

I just tried to enter another lot that is larger that I made as a vet clinic in another world  (Henford-On-Bagley). When I made it I had a large household owning and basically living on the lot. I just went into that game save and the household no longer owns the clinic. If I go to their home and try to have them buy or visit the clinic the game crashes. I'm also unable to enter the vet clinic from worldview > edit.

All of these lots were carefully play-tested when I made them, and part of my playtesting process includes re-placing the lot from my library. When I made, placed, and played them originally they ran just fine, even the ranch which was play-tested with a full house, butler, ranch hand, animals, and two roommates ran just fine  and I played it for quite a while, since part of my testing/building goal on that one was to have it run smoothly while living on the lot with a large household and a number of animals. All of this was before the For Rent pack was released.

Note that all of the homes/lots I tested with are ones I made, and of various sizes. I have all packs and use no Mods/CC. I also ran a game repair twice, and all of my game is updated. I'm on Mac, and I have a strong computer.

Having said all of this, I'm wondering if what you and I are both seeing is related to this bug report: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Endless-Loading-Crashing-when-trying-to-load-a-certain-lot/m-p/13280752 Personally, I'm going to put my 'Me Too' and this information I just posted here onto that bug report. If you think this is also your issue after reading through the report, you can do the same. Either way, I would go ahead and run a game repair if I was you, and try to work around the issue for now by not playing or placing larger lots if that seems to trigger issues in your game also, and playing on different lots for now. When they address whatever this bug is, hopefully those lots will become playable for us, or at least will allow us in to bulldoze them and start over there. 🤞

@pr3ttylady82 Sorry, totally missed your residential rental

You wrote that you repopulated with your saved Sims and homes so I wanted to double check you tried different lots and also different Sims. Sometimes There's so many different lot issues going on that the differences can be vital.

For example that thread that Sheri linked is always a very specific lot that's causing issues and it's easy to duplicate with that lot so I needed to be sure that's not your issue.

Could you describe the steps you are taking to place in detail ? Are you placing from the map or from build mode ? With Sims without them ? Do they not load from start or does it randomly stop working.

I've tried one of the houses from your gallery on that lot (enter build mode from map, place lot, exit to manage world) and that worked fine for me so it doesn't seem to be a lot problem as such.
  • When I noticed the constant loading I went to my other saves and tried random homes on that same lot and again ran into the same problem. That's when I decided to remove my game folder to my desktop, repaired my game and recreate a new game folder. Slowly I put the saves back in along with events files and tray folder, tray deleted items and left the rest as is removing cache etc. Then I created a new game with a new sim and began repopulating that save with my saved sims and a few homes I saved in my library along with other builds from the gallery. Everything was going fine until I got to that lot in Newcrest. First I placed a house down from build mode and as I tried to go back to mange worlds it began to constantly load. So I forced exited the game and tried to place a home down from map view and it continued to load again and I had to shut the game down once more. Each time I would try different lot types as well as different residential homes on that specific lot and still had the same problem. Also when I repopulated my new save I did use the same sims from the previous save but I didn't have an issues placing any home from any other lots until the Newcrest one. I think another issue could be some builds from the gallery are faulty and that may also have added to it but I'm not sure.

  • I checked out the thread and I believe that I am experiencing the same problem. I did repair the game multiple times and as long as I don't try to build on that lot in Newcrest the game works fine for now. It's such a shame these bugs keep us from enjoying the game but I just hope that this is fixed soon.

@pr3ttylady82 The other thread is always a specific build. If I place those in my game, I have the same issues. They also don't work on any lot.

There was a thread similar to yours but that was just a specific save game. Don't think there's been reports where a certain lot causes issues all the homes on a new save too.

Do you get any lastException files ?

  • I did but only when I had Mc Command installed in my game. The constant loading happened on another lot yesterday when I played and that was on the 50x50 lot in Tartosa. I'm not sure but it seems that this is a genuine bug that just simply needs to be addressed.

  • The problem that I'm having most specifically is lots. Not necessarily any builds. As I said it doesn't matter what build I use whether from my personal library or gallery the problem is lots. There are some faulty builds but I typically stay away from them and simmers let each other know in the comments if that build will crash the game or cause lag. I could use base game builds with minimum clutter and still have this problem. I even bulldozed a build and left the lot empty and it still continued to load when I tried to return to manage worlds. I'm sure the problem isn't builds it's the lots.
