Re: Game crashes

I have the same error. I live in only one Save File, and don't use mods or CC (none to remove). It's been happening since sometime after 5:00 pm Eastern (it was glitchy/laggy yesterday, but it would open yesterday). If I start a new Save File I don't get the error. But I don't want a new Save File, I want my existing one.

  • halisimmer  In what context do you see this, for example when trying to load your main household or travel to a given lot?  If you can't load your main household, can you load a different one within the same save?  Use Load Game rather than Resume to jump to Manage Worlds.

If you can load a different household, try moving your main sims to a different lot and see whether they or their original house will load separately.  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.

I've seen this in three contexts:

    1. I click Load Game and get the error before I even get to the map.
    2. I click Load Game and get to the map, and get the error when I try to load a household. I've tried with multiple households.
    3. I click Load Game and get to the map, and get the error when I try to load an unoccupied lot.

    I'm on PC.

This is exactly what is happening to me, I have repaired the game so many times I have now lost count! So frustrating, I don’t know how to fix it at this point

From Load Game > Save File > Manage Worlds, there are no orange icons and no exclamation points over any lots. There are:

    • Willow Creek - 3 played Households are showing as green.
    • Oasis Springs - 3 played Households are showing as green
    • Newport - 0 played Households
    • Evergreen Harbour - 5 played Households are showing as green
    • Henford-on-Bagley - 2 played Households are showing as green * This is the World where the Error Code first appeared.
    • San Sequoia - 4 played Households showing as green
    • Chestnut Ridge - 3 played Households showing as green
    • Tomarang - 3 played Households showing as green

Then it got weirder? It was taking a long time to Load Game > Save File > Manage Worlds > Load Lot > Error Code and restart the game twice in every World (I tested 1 played Household and 1 unoccupied Lot in every World), so at one point I closed the Error Code and didn't restart but opened the next World... and it worked - I could load in to a played Household and load in to an unoccupied Lot. I went back to the first 5 worlds and tried both again and it worked. But I still received the Error Code the first time I Load Game > Save File > Manage Worlds > Load Lot. I don't feel like ignoring the Error Code is the answer. What should I do?

Resetting the game worked for me! I hadn't done this before, but found the official EA instructions easy to follow and they did work. That said, I did follow the advice and instructions to backup my files prior to the updates this week so I was prepared (i.e. if the update corrupted a file, my backups weren't corrupted).

Also, I only had one Save File, so it wasn't too tedious, but they do recommend trying one Save File at a time and test each as you replace them so you can troubleshoot if it's a particular file. Just in case you have multiple, it's a detail to watch out for!
