@crinrict I am referring to the part in bold:
We’ve toned down the amount of excitement that occurs when a celebrity makes an appearance outside of Del Sol Valley. They should be showing up outside of Del Sol Valley less often as well, so that should cut down on the ruckus.
Every time my Sim goes to a community lot 2-3 celebrity Sims show up. All of them together create a ruckus.

@canelacaliente Does it matter what type of lot they appear outside of Del Sol Valley ?
I think celebs are treated like any other NPCs outside of the world when it comes to selection who's showing up and while lot traits pull more celebrities, the lots without can still pull them in the same amount as any other NPC.
Do you have lots of NPCs celebrities in your world ? Is it that the Sims are still distracted too much by cheering and paparazzis and do you see that more on certain venue types than on others ? - canelacaliente6 years agoSeasoned Ace

The lots I have tested don't have the Hottest Spot in Town trait but yet they are generating high-level celebrities like the lot has the trait. I don't know why the lots without the Hottest Spot in Town trait outside of Del Sol Valley are attracting a lot of high-level celebrity Sims. I didn't put a patch number in because I am not sure if this started after the last patch or the patch before that one.

I was getting 1 on a lot before. Now I am getting 2-3 celebrities showing up on lots and it is consistent. It is the celebrities at higher fame levels that over spawn on lots from my testing. I have tried this on two separate computers. I haven't dug into the game code yet to see why celebrities at higher levels are spawning a lot more on lots.
I don't have this issue with celebrities with lower fame levels. The celebrities at lower fame levels are be working fine. They appear more often on lots with the Up-and-Coming lot trait.
Do you have lots of NPCs celebrities in your world?
No. In one game I have one celebrity family. All the other tests I did, the celebrities were ones the game spawned. It didn't make a difference.
Is it that the Sims are still distracted too much by cheering and paparazzi?
Yes because there are too many celebrities on the lot at once. They also bring in other Sim types such as paparazzi and cheering fans that get quite annoying.
Do you see that more on certain venue types than on others?
The venue type doesn't matter. Also, the lot traits don't matter.

I asked around and yeah, I don't think this is specific to lot traits. The main thing we tuned down (in the older fix) was that celebs that showed up randomly would bring less fans and paparazzi when not in Del Sol Valley. We didn't want to restrict celebs too much, because we can't be sure how many of your Sims are celebs and just forbidding them across the board felt very restrictive. The lot traits, though, should be the only things that look specifically for celeb Sims to pull in. Sounds like the main problem here is the spawning of fans an paparazzi, so maybe it needs tuning down more, we can investigate.

I am not sure why that design choice was made not to restrict celebrities to specific lot traits. That actually gives the player more control of when they want celebrities to appear. It probably would have been a better solution is to have celebrities tied to the lot traits that way players can decide if they want celebrities appearing on specific lots just like we can decide with dogs and cats. I don't think the number of fans and paparazzi is the issue. My lots spawn 4-6 fans and 1-2 paparazzi. I think this is a fair balance. The issue is celebrities showing up on lots where I don't want them.
Issues I Have With Celebrities Spawning on Lots
- I find it annoying if I send my Sim to the library and 2-3 celebrity Sims show up demanding all the attention on the lot by inciting cheers
- My Sim opens up a business and celebrities, fans, and paparazzi take up slots for actual customers decreasing the number of customers I can have on the lot
- Child celebrities spawning at the gyms
- Teen fans spawning at nightclubs, bars, and lounges
- Celebrity Sims walking around my small town neighborhood outside Del Sol Valley
If the celebrity system was tied to lot traits and I could choose what lots I want celebrities to appear on lots outside of Del Sol Valley, the gameplay would be better.
@SimGuruNick I've had global celebrities knocking on my door without any celebrity lot traits. I'm also was not a celebrity nor have I talked to her before. It was in Willow Creek, not exactly a place I'd expect to have a global celebrity randomly choose to visit my house.
I also find it annoying when I'm trying to move around the world and even if I'm doing something, suddenly a high level celebrity starts a cheer and I'm knocked out of what I'm doing. For instance, I am not very appreciative of my date or myself going to cheer for a celebrity on our date. Those are timed events that I'd very much like to get gold on. 😉
I think it would be better to separate "NPC celebrities" and "Player celebrities" so that our celebrity SIMs can go anywhere, but we can finally restrict where NPC celebrities go. That way quiet libraries remain quiet and going to a little bar in the middle of no where for a date doesn't end up in a very unhappy SIM getting no attention what so ever from his/her date! Since NPC celebrities seem incapable of knowing there is a time and a place for showing off, it'd be nice to be able to ban the NPC ones from certain locations. 😉
I'm with you @canelacaliente . I've had NPC celebrities ruin way too much of my fun not to add my two cents in on this one. There are just some places they go that feel really out of place and their behavior in those places feels wrong too.

Hi @PriestessAvenara, @canelacaliente, @crinrict,
As this is feedback (always appreciated!), I'm moving this thread to the feedback section to keep things organized.
Keep it coming! 😉

Its not really a bug its more of a curse, because if one of your sims knows a celebrity when they join the lot the game will pick them based on interest and or if there is any events going on and if sim knows them. If sims has skills in singing or playing guitar, and they have one in their inventory, they will more likely to be chosen to play the music station for a festival. To disable celebrities from coming into lots make sure if they are playable to turn on disguises.
Also, Bars or other lots besides lounges, you can lower the chance of a Celebrity on though lots I had to put it on the Strangervillie Bar because there was like 15 Celeberties that showed up when I was trying to solve the mystery. Anyways hope it helps.
