@vpeterson0527, what does the Buff icon say about the Ghost Goo potion.๐ค There should be an icon for the Ghost Goo buff that looks like a beaker and says that your Sim is temporarily a ghost, and it should give a count down timer. Mine started at 4 hours.
Also, do you use or have you ever used any Mods or Custom Content (CC)? ๐ค
The icon is already gone and it said only 4 hours but my sim never turned back.
I do not have any mods or CC
@vpeterson0527, hmmm....๐ค I think this is a bug, but it could be a glitch in your game. Thank you for replying and answering my questions... always good to know we can rule out Mods/CC! ๐

@vpeterson0527, I have one suggestion... have you tried taking your glitched Sim into CAS to see if that resets him or her?๐ค It's worth a try if you haven't done it yet. ๐ค

Unfortunately, it did not work. I decided to work on getting my Sims' skills up to make Ambrosia to see if it works.
I am starting to think that my sim did actually die but everything was seamless and Grim did not show up
@vpeterson0527, while I suppose it is possible that your Sim really died, I still think the ghost state is just stuck. ๐คจ I' have since heard of this happening before but the solution may no longer be working.
I talked to a few other helpers and one of them suggest eating ambrosia (which is what you have decided to try).. But that made me think that if you have Realm of Magic, there is a spell in the Untamed Magic category called Dedeathify that can restore a ghost to its physical form, This is a spell for a Master Spellcaster. It is worth a try if you have the Realm of Magic Game Pack.๐
You can also try to reset your Sim (although this usually is used when your Sim is physically stuck somewhere, it can't hurt to try). Open the cheat box by pressing "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "C" at the same time. Then in the box type "resetsim FirstName LastName" (without the quotes and press "Enter". So if your Sim is Bella Goth you would type "resetsim Bella Goth" and press "Enter". ๐
You can also try deleting some cache files that your game doesn't need. For more about that , here is a link: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/delete-cache-files/
I have some more ideas (this is in reference to where above I stated that some other people have had this happen but the solution may no longer be working), but those solutions are a little bit more complicated . So as not to overwhelm you, I will let you try these first! ๐

@Psychotps, I've used the Ghost Goo recently with no problems but it seems that some people in the past had problems with it if they traveled while a ghost or went to work while a ghost. ๐คจ I was not able to replicate @vpeterson0527 , experience, but I didn't have my Sim travel while in the ghost state. :ealight_bulk: So that might be why my Ghost Goo was fine but yours and @vpeterson0527 's weren't! ๐ค

@vpeterson0527, sadly I was not able to replicate your problem in my game. โน๏ธ I used the Ghost Goo 4 times (7 if you count the times the goo just gave my Sim a bad moodlet without turning him into a ghost) but in each case he became normal after the 4 hours were up. 2 of the times I had him travel, hoping to trigger an older bug with the Ghost Goo. I took him to the museum in San MyShuno and the other time I let him go to work and didn't join him there (he's a scientist so he has that option).
I'm sorry I wasn't able to duplicate your experience. ๐

It's okay! I am just working on getting my sims' skills up to make ambrosia which is taking awhile. Once i get to the point to make it I will update on the results

So an update is that my sims skills are up but i am struggling to get all the ingredients. I have the potion of youth but i cannot seem to catch the angelfish and my grafted plants aren't producing orchids and what not
@vpeterson0527, if you have Realm of Magic, you can easily get Angelfish at the magic shops as their inventory rotates daily. But if you don't have ROM, it will be much more difficult to get. I did angelfish somewhat easily by fishing in Sulani with Island Paradise. But again, if you don't have that pack, it can be tricky to get one! I've done it before those packs were out,. but not very often.
As for the orchid, they used to be much easier to breed with grafting, but the rates are much reduced with the patch that came out when Seasons came out. Your best bet it to get to a high level of gardening and then purchase the seed packs... seasonal ones are achieved at level4, uncommon are at level 7 and rare are level 10. I don't remember if orchids are uncommon or rare, and I think you can also get them with the seasonal seed packets (winter and spring are the seasons for orchids).
But, since your game messed up, I would use cheats to get the orchid seeds . You might cheat some money in your game as well, since the rarer the see packets, the higher the cost.
Open the Cheat Box by pressing "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "C" at the same time and press "Enter"
In the cheat box type the following without quotes "bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement" and press "Enter" (don't forget the "." between "bb" and "ignore.....". It is very easy to forget!
Now you can purchase any of the seed packs in Build/BuyMode! But you will have to probably buy many of them because there is no guarantee you will get orchids. Use the "kaching" money cheat for 1000 simoleons or "motherlode" for 50, 000 simoleons if you need to ., Seasonal packets are cheaper so you might want to try those first, either winter or spring ones.
However, @SheriGR has some rooms you can download... some have plants like the orchid plant, and she even has a room with ambrosia already to go! โค๏ธ Just place the room on your lot and drag the ambrosia to your Sim's table!

So once I had all the ingredients and made the ambrosia, I made my ghost sim eat it. The result was a failure. My sim's age reset and she remained a ghost.
@vpeterson0527, that is what I was afraid would happen. ๐
I was also going to suggest a few things that people often do when they have some sort of Sim or household glitch. Usually you can try traveling and then returning (travel in this case would mean that you follow your Sim to some lot like a park or the gym, and then return home). But, some people have noticed that in the past this seemed to trigger their "temporary" ghost state to become permanent, as did going to work! (Saving and quitting the game might do the same!) Another possibility is to move your Sim out to another house and then move them back again. But if some people in the past have had problems with doing these actions, it might be best to hold off doing them! (In fact, you might have done one of these in the first place, and that could be why your Sim is stuck being a ghost! I was not able to trigger the same thing as whatever triggered your ghost to become permanent.
One other thing you can do is to try to drink the Ghost Goo again, in that it might work correctly and over-ride the existing Ghost Goo. ๐ค
You can also try to have your ghost get eaten by a Cow Plant! This once stopped my Sim from being a Plant Sim, so maybe it might stop yours from being a ghost! ๐ค

But this is considered a solved problem... so, either they fixed the original problem and it has returned, or the cheat that fixed the problem in this bug report is no longer working. (A while back some of the cheats were removed that weren't supposed to be in the game in the first place. I don't know if this was one of them. You can try it if you want, but depending on what ghost trait you have you might have to try all of them... you can find the list of the ghost traits cheats here:
In your case you would type in "remove" instead of "equip" (see bug report posts above that mention this).

I had a similar problem with the potion of immortality backfiring just recently and I actually got my sim back to normal. I ended up giving him another immortality potion which applied the debuff again and then had him drink a potion of plentiful needs (because I was trying to actually kill him and he had low needs atm) and it popped him out of ghost form and removed the debuff all at once. I also had the (after)thought of trying decursify (dedeadify didn't work) or something similar.
Hope this helps you and anyone else who runs into this problem!
@tb0ne317 , that might help some people, but since the Ghost Goo Potion is from the scientist career from Get to Work, and all the other potions you mention are from being a Spellcaster from Realm of Magic, they might not work in this situation. ๐ค
And even if they do work, the person with the problem would also have to have Realm of Magic, which is great if they have that pack, but won't be of much help to those who don't. ๐

So then just use the ghost goo again to try and get the debuff like I did with the potion and then use the needs serum. They're basically the same thing with different names (w/ the exception that one makes you immortal and the other a ghost).
