I don’t think that’s it. When I switch to their household and try to make them go inside, they say they can’t go there

Their front door must open to a shared space.
Is there a way of doing that where I don't have to evict the tenants to change the property?

Unfortunately modifying a unit like this requires that you evict all tenants and it may be necessary to change it back to a residental to do the changes.
I'm having the same problem. I wanted my sim (landlord) to live on the top floor but I cant get them to go into it. The hallway is a shared space and i even tried removing the door and just put an arch way and they still won't go in.
I'm hoping you can help me with this:
I had a total of six apartments spread out on three floors. The bottom floor is complete, and all are rented. I was altering the second floor when I decided to buy another already built rental. When I came back to my build the lady in apartment 1 is now living in apartment 5! which isn't even completed!! When I looked at the drop down BOTH apartment 1 and 5 are saying they are #5 and on the detail page I am missing a number 1 apartment
I've tried to change it back but each time I do they both become #6. (Which ironically is the apartment my sims won't go into now after coming and going for a couple of weeks.... Oh! I've also tried renaming them on the detail page, but the detail page says I only have 5 apartments....
Any ideas?
Thanks 🙂
