@SqueamishNerd Thanks for sharing your ideas. I agree with almost all of them. I certainly would like to see toddler and child sims show some signs of magic. I've thought for a long time that it would be cute if a toddler sim accidently transportalated or changed toys and other things into something else. Perhaps not user controlled, just random acts of magic. Child sims should be able to start playing around with magic and learning some basics for sure.
The one thing I disagree with is the difficulty. I'm sort of an impatient player and thus find leveling / learning magic a bit tedious. The magic points can increase quickly but I think it takes way too long to learn all spells and potions. Your idea of user options to set difficulty is perfect. There are other areas in the game where I think difficulty options would be fantastic; learning normal muggle skllls, career advancement, cleanliness, etc.
Interesting to hear about someone else's perspective on the difficulty. I feel like it goes too fast to learn all the spells and potions, especially since when we ask one of the Sages about a potion recipe they give us the potion, so we don't even have to make it ourselves, and if we know Copypasto we have an infinite supply of that potion. Not using help from the Sages (except for the three Ultimate Spells, which we have to learn from the Sages if I recall correctly) makes it a bit harder to learn all the spells and potions, but the levelling up still goes too fast for me. So, seems like there is need for some save file settings for this. I would love if experience gain was possible to turn off for Transportalate.

@SqueamishNerd If I'm being completely honest, I'm so impatient that I use cheats to level up my spellcasters. lol I do agree that it would be nice to have some options for the difficulty in learning skills. I use MCCC to boost the normal skill difficulty rates but that doesn't affect the spellcaster skills. :-(
And, since you mentioned it, we do get a potion when learning them but the quality is normal. So, if we want better quality, we do have to level up and get the potion making perks.
