Reapers Reward Broke My Game!

Try the following

• Close the game
• Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
• Repair the game
• Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. Be aware that your claimed event rewards will also be gone for the time being but you will get them back with your other things.
• Start a new save game
• Check if you still have the error
• Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

Hi, I tried your suggestion and the event works! I would like my stuff back though.

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

- Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)

- accountDataDB.package (your event rewards)
- Custom Music (if you added any)
- Screenshots (if you've taken any)
- Videos (if you've taken any)
- ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
- Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.

Try this: close the game (left click on taskbar icon, click Close window), open the EA app, click on the 3 horizontal lines at the top left, click Go offline, start the game. Grim Reaper pop-up shouldn't appear. This worked for me, let me know if it works for you.

Curse you, Grim Reaper Challenge. 

Almost every single time I enter the game the first thing that pops up is the big screen about the Grim Reaper event, which is fine in of itself, but the moment I turn it off the menu screen turns darker and doesn't let me click on anything. The only thing it allows me to do is exit the game. This issue doesn't happen when the first thing that pops up is a screen advertising one of the packs, just the Grim Reaper event awards, but the pack ad is very very rare in comparison to the GR event. Is there a way to fix this or am I just forces to turn the game on-and-off in hopes that by some miracle the game gives me the ad instead?

The event works (well, it won't check off when I plant apple and cherry) but my previous rewards haven't been restored. I would really like them back.

I am having the same issue. I’ve been unable to play the game at all this week cause I can’t get past that pop-up. It only started happening with the week 2 pop-up for me.
