Red Alien skin?

I have seen some aliens on the gallery that are red. However, I can't see that option in CAS. (I'm talking about their alien skin, not disguise skin).
I can download these red aliens to my game, and they stay red, but I cannot create red aliens.

Is this something that came with Batuu? I don't have that pack. Or did someone do it with mods? (I don't have mods in my game at the moment).

This is the alien from the gallery... as you can see, I have no option to change the skin colour to her colour on any alien I create, as seen in the image below...

  • @gertie47 Now this one was new to me since I've apparently always ignored the red skin option. It is a base game skin color option. However, to change the skin color on this sim you can do the following:

    1. Enable testing cheats (enter testingcheats on into the cheat box)
    2. Then enable CAS full edit mode (enter cas.fulleditmode into the cheat box)
    3. Then click a mirror (or shift-click the sim) and choose to edit/change the sim
    4. Now click to edit body and you should see skin color become editable. Red is one of the miscellaneous options at the bottom, as are blue, green, etc.:
    5. Edit: @gertie47 ...
You can also edit the skin color and get these same options if you are in live mode on the lot and click the mirror and choose 'Change Sim' without the cheat on, then click her face (not body). If you open CAS in Manage Households (from world view) for the lot and do the same thing, you will get the skin tone changing options if you click her face (not body).
  • @gertie47 I responded last evening then edited in some more skin editing details above, but I just realized that you appear to have the skin color options showing in your screenshot, so you must have this area open? Am I understanding correctly that the sim from the gallery does show the skin colors bye will not let you choose/edit it? Well, if this is the case you are correct, something is not working as it should. It's possible that something is buggy in the sim that you downloaded from the gallery, but it's also possible that something is wrong in your CAS skintone area already since you are seeing different options than I am, and I have all packs. Plus I was told that the red skintone option is from base game. So... you should be seeing the same skintone options that I do. Can you please try the following and see if the same editing options appear for you that I mentioned:

Close your game and move your Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then add this sim into a new game save and see if you see the red skin tone and other skin options and can then change her skin color. You can test without saving.

@SheriGR, I specifically want to apply it to aliens (undisguised), but the option is not available to them.

There is no problem with me applying the colour red to other sims. I just can't with aliens.

@gertie47 I see what you mean now. My alien sees the same "Miscellaneous" skin color options that yours does:

Yet his daughter, who is half human has the normal options:

So it does appear this is distinctive to aliens. Sorry, I have not dealt a ton with aliens and with skin tone changes. So, in the case of your sim from the gallery it's very interesting that she has the alien eyes, human skin tones, and has the alien skin palette come up when trying to edit the skin, and since the skin is already red/human color, it looks like the editor doesn't know what to do with it. Can you share the name of the household and player who posted it? I'm curious to look at her in my game also. I will also ask some friends about this and see if they have additional info/possibilities.

    Edit:
I found this post discussing if you can have an alien with human skin. The last post in it is a person who says they were able to do this by mixing genetics in CAS using aliens they found in the gallery with human skin and alien eyes. This still does not explain how the original players got the mix, but I wonder if you mess with genetics using them if you can get to a place where the skin becomes editable?  I don't know, but I'm rather curious now: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-Questions/Human-skin-with-Alien-eyes/td-p/9344211

@gertie47 Thank you. I don't see this one in your pic... do you know the name of the household she was in?

@gertie47 I did download a household from Yukikiku that has two red aliens in it. I'm guessing they may be using a mod since it does not seem to carry a CC tag. Anyway, when I open their skin color options, I see only the alien skin colors also...

However, I am able to change the skin color to one of those colors just fine:

Is this different behavior than what you see in your CAS? If you are unable to change the color of your red alien perhaps you could download this household and try with it in your game. The name of the household is "Kathekk - Red Alien". Another player i n the information I read said they used the red aliens from the gallery and messed around with genetics in CAS to experiment.

@SheriGR It does appear that some mod has been used.

What I wanted to do was give game-generated aliens a makeover to be red "Martians". (I like to makeover my npc/townies so they are not wearing all the random nonsense they generate with). I had already done a series of pale aliens (to look like they were all in some kind of cult when in disguise), and I also did a series of stereotypical green aliens, and was hoping I could do some red "Martians".

I suppose I could make some from scratch using the red gallery alien as a base.

@gertie47 True... you could have some fun messing around with genetics in CAS too, perhaps. Now I'm wondering what doing genetics experimentation with the red one from the gallery could result in? I'm thinking I may leave this female I put in the screenshot in my game. My interest is piqued. I have not used the genetics options in CAS, but I bred then developed two groups of 'SuperSims' in a very convoluted breeding process for traits, and one of the traits that I required each to have in the beginning infant was the 'secret alien handshake', so the male at the base of the genetic/family tree was a full alien. I also just recently had my first abduction pregnancy in one of my main legacy sims. So, between these angles I'm enticed to experiment around more in the alien aspect of things. One of the things I thought was interesting with my SuperSim 'breeding' process is a couple of the final ones I used were born with a red tint to their skin tone... kind-of a pinkish/reddish/purplish tint blended in (I used no mods/cc). Sorry - I digress... Anyway... I'd be very interested to hear/see what solutions you come up with in your experiments! Good luck! 🙌
