Roommates in For Rent units?

Can I have roommates (university pack) in apartment units (For Rent)?

I did some tests, when I put up ads for roommates with my sim living in apartment units, nobody shows up and my sim's social pie menu is missing the "Roommates..." selection.

While I switch to a sim living in a residential lot, the ad still did not bring me roommate candidates to my door, however, I am able to get the "Roommates..." selection in my social pie menu.

So my question is that was it by design that For Rent Units is incompatible with the Roommates function from University expansion pack.

    Hello,

It worked for me, everything works fine UNTIL i play with a neighboor in an other unit : roomates can not access their unit anymore. They stay in the common areas and the active unit, using all the facilities.

  • @23333lol I just tested with my rental family and found that I could have them place an ad for a roommate, but I didn't find that they had the option with other Sims they met to 'Ask to be Roommate' like they normally do. However, when a 'Potential Roommate' showed up at the lot the next day they were able to ask her to be the roommate, and the open bed was automatically assigned to her. However, this was not an apartment, this was a duplex that was assigned with areas for rental and common areas on the lot/building.

    Hello again,

I tested this : i came back in the unit with the roommates, i made sure all the sims living in this unit was in it, and i went to town view in order to change household. The roommates can now access to their unit. I had to do this again once when i came back from a travel, but aside fron that it works pretty well.
