Rotate a house when moving it to a new lot.

I will not attempt to discuss the madness and mayhem I had to go through to delete an existing house and then evict a family to actually get the larger empty lot. Once you have an empty lot that is orientated differently than your original lot, how do you rotate the house? Once you select the move (four-way arrows) you lose all ability to rotate it. As suggested in other posts you cannot shift-click, nor can you use the </> arrows to rotate the house. It also will not let you rotate the house before moving if your house is longer than the width. So, how is this mysterious feature possible in PC. Does anyone have a working answer?

  • To rotate a house in build mode first click on the four arrow button and select House. Then click on the house. You will see that the entire house is selected and a tool appears that let you rotate it or move it.

  • This is an high concept guide on how to do this. If you are not an expert at these tools this can be a very taxing accomplishment. It was not easy to find nor complete. I'll try to get a step by step guide in the future.

I finally found out how to do this. The lot I wanted had a house and family on it.

First save your game as is so you can load it back to the original game in case you make a mistake.

First, go to the world where you pick the family you want to play. If you want to keep them make sure they are in the saved households. If not, save them if they are not there.
I liked the house so i also played that family on that lot.
    Click Build mode
Click save to my library (middle nav bar with an arrow pointing to folder)
    Click Save lot.

Click save to my library in the bottom right of the screen.

Once you have the family and original neighbor house saved....

Make sure your house is also saved, you'll have to get into your family and house and do the same.

    Now to move the house

Go back to the main menu.
Go into build and then Bulldoze the lot.

    Evict the family,

Now visit that lot with your current family.

You'll have to go into the gallery and select your saved house and place it on the lot.
once the house is placed, you'll have to move into it.

Now once you have the house on the lot you can now select the move tool, and then the rotate works properly. The one thing they do not mention in other posts is that the move and rotate tool only works in the property in which you have selected. You cannot move to an actual different property unless you go through these steps.

@jpkarlsenThank you but that only works on the property in which the house is located. You cannot move it to a new lot and rotate it.

@hrffb   You don't have to do all that. You just need to be in build mode. If the lot has a family on it, they'll go out to the street while you're doing it. If you're placing a new lot, the existing family just needs to have enough money to afford the new house.

Just go into live mode, you can either play them for a second or if you have cheats enabled, visit the lot with another sim and hit F3. Then just rotate it like @jpkarlsen mentioned.

That is a far too complicated way to do it. It works just as I wrote without moving anyone out .

Your image shows that you tried dragging the house to a lot you do not own. That will not work. First save your house to the library then move the household to the new lot and place the house from the library. Quite simple.
