Rotational play means always ill pets

I tend to play rotational households, especially if I'm doing some sort of family theme.

In my current game I am now on generation three with about 10 different active households, most of them with pets.

Lately, it seems every time I change household the pet in that family is ill. I'm getting a little tired of having to travel to the vet first thing, before being able to continue with planned gameplay for aspirations and careers. Of course, when I arrive at the vet clinic I can see my other Sims with their pets there, so I know that the next time I play that household I will have to go to the vet again.

And around and around we go...

It's both a little distressing and annoying.

  • @belpita Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. I have two Yorkies that I have popped up into the gallery or households then into the household I'm working with several times... plus have done this several times for testing purposes. I've only had one time I had to take one to the vet. Now that I've read your post I think I will continue this way rather than adding any additional pets to the households. I always thought they were in a bit of a 'limbo' like toddlers and plants, when I'm in another household. In the case of all of these I don't think I've ever returned to a tragedy (not that everything is perfect when I return, but they have not apparently been starving, no one has died, etc. Maybe if you're going to be out of a household for a bit you could try moving the animal into one of the  the households that are yours but not in a lot currently? When I do that mine are fine when I move them back in with someone I'm playing now.

  • I sort of understand the mechanism behind it, because you need other patients at the vet clinic and maybe the game is set to prioritise your own Sims for that.

I don't think your suggestion would work, however, because presumably those unplayed households will also turn up at the vet clinic at some point. But I will try it.

@belpita Hope it helps. Please let me know! To clarify something... I meant adding them to your fav households - played, but not on a lot. If they are in the unplayed households they run a small risk of being deleted randomly, I believe. If you want to REALLY make sure nothing is going on with them while you're out, you could move them in with a sim in the  re-arrange households area, then save that household to your library. Then when you are ready to play them again you can add them to a lot from your library to get them back into the game and then move them in the re-arrange households area back to your family. This may strip their relationship ranking, but I think you have a base amount there anyway. Couldn't say for sure without testing it, but hopefully the dogs will also have retained any skills (like being potty trained) like the sims do when uploaded/downloaded to/from the library. Anyway, if it's a bug maybe that would help some for now. Maybe you could actually move all of your pets in with one sim and upload that household to the library to 'store' it in this manner?

  • Oh, I have far too many pets to be able to move them into one household - lol! One is a Crazy Cat Lady with 5 furballs...

    But thanks for the suggestions.

@belpita 😃 Hahaha... well, I hope they fix it in the patch in a few days for the sake of the cat-lady if nothing else! 😉

  • @belpita You can use the bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement cheat
    and
    bb.showhiddenobjects

Then click on any button in buy mode, click on search and look up "wellness treat" and give it to the sick pet. I think I've given it to other pets, but not strays while they were sick and not in the current household. It saves you vet visits. I stock up one sims with a few in each household so I don't have to do it everytime.
