Selecting a laptop for Sims
I primarily use my laptop for playing Sims 4 with all the expansions and my current laptop (it is an Acer Aspire E5-571) manages most of the time but can be incredibly slow and laggy.
I have had it for 5 years and it's time for an upgrade! From research, it seems like I need a good graphics chip, SSD, at least 8GB ram and a decent intel core but there could be an important spec I'm not looking out for?! I have no clue.
My budget is about £600 max and I am really struggling to work out which laptop would be the best for its price! I would really appreciate any help all I want is to run sims in great quality!!
@absigailll For £600, you could get a proper gaming laptop, capable of running the game on high/ultra settings, even with all packs installed. In fact, this one is on sale for £500 and has a graphics chip that could handle at least a mix of high and ultra settings:
Its hardware is from two years ago, hence the price drop, but it's still more than capable of running Sims 4.
An alternate choice would be this one, for £600. It's essentially the same computer as above but a year newer. Performance should be pretty much the same though.

For £630, you could get a laptop with a significantly faster graphics card, one that can handle ultra settings with some room to spare. It may or may not always be able to maintain ultra settings—we don't know how demanding future packs will be—but it should still handle at least a mix of high and ultra even when the game is out of development.
The only other laptops I saw in this category have weaker hardware and wouldn't run the game nearly as well. But if you'd like to see other options, please let me know what details matter to you.
