Sim won't resume books or finish writing books

I've seen this issue posted on and off but none of the answers have helped. My sim is building the writing skill and I had her begin writing a book. I didn't have her finish but when I came back to 'resume writing', she will write the book for like a few seconds before canceling the activity. 

Here is what I've tried that hasnt worked:

1. Checked for writer's block. No writer's block.

2. Stacked two actions on top of each other. For ex: have her write book and then play game on computer. No success with that.

3. Go to a different lot and use a different computer.

4. Removed book shelves from the room. 

5. Reset sim

6. Have sim sit in chair first and then use computer

She has no issues practicing writing. It's just when she goes to resume writing a book that she was working on before. About to give up but thought i'd check here in case anyone else is having same issue or has a solution.
