Sims 4 crashes and goes blank when Marketplace is opened.

When opening the game, sometimes Marketplace is prompted by default, even without me clicking it. Today, however, anytime the Marketplace is opened it completely crashes my game and I am left with a blank blue screen and nothing loading. I can click on the button for the main menu but it doesn't change or do anything. Nothing loads even after multiple minutes. I have to force quit the game. I tried restarting the game 3 times and each time the Marketplace opened with popups for deals/sales and this occurred immediately after closing the popups. When I was able to get the game to open and not go to the Marketplace, the game and my saves loaded properly. 

I don't know if the issue is tied to the popups specifically or the Marketplace itself, though I suspect it is the Marketplace itself. When I tried to choose the Marketplace though (without the popups prompting me), it didn't load and then I had the same issue where I could not get back to the main menu or my save. 

I play the Sims 4 through the EA app on a Windows computer.
