Sims 4: how to get multiple households in 1 save file to be their own save file

I started out with one family with 4 kids, and all have gone off to the university and graduated. They are moved into their own houses now- but I don't like how the game progresses inactive households while I'm playing one of the siblings. I have my lifespan on long, and aging is off except for the active household, but they still manage to get into shenanigans while I'm playing elsewhere. Is there a way to make each household it's own separate game that I can choose to load from the main menu?

    @lndzmbe  If you use "save as" and rename the save instead of just "save," you'll create a new save file while the old one remains intact.  You can do this as often as you want, and the saves will be separate files that have no influence on each other.

    If you'd like, once you have a separate save for each family, you could get rid of the other families from each save so that you only have the one you want to play each particular save.  On the other hand, you may prefer to keep those families as background in each save, so they can maintain your relationships with your main family.  Their presence in one save won't affect what happens to them in another save: you're essentially creating a separate timeline for each save.
