Sims 4 Steam Expansions on Origin base
I bought the Sims 4 base game and the Cats & Dogs expansion on Origin as I didn't realize it was available on Steam.
I'd like to buy more expansions and noticed that they tend to be on sale on Steam more frequently than Origin. I've read conflicting info that you can/can't play S4 expansions bought through Steam if you play it on Origin.
Is it possible in any way to play Steam expansions with my Origin base game? Just hoping for a straight answer because I keep getting different info everywhere I look.
Edit to add: if I re-purchase S4 on Steam.. does that mean I can't use my Origin Cats & Dogs expansion?
- @VoxWraith Yes, you can mix and match packs bought on Steam and on Origin.
You do need to buy the base game on both platforms but after that, all packs show up whether you bought them on Steam or on Origin.
You do need to install the Steam version for this to work though and play with that version. The Origin version does not recognize the Steam packs.
So, in short
1. Buy base on both platforms
2. Install the steam version
3. Start the steam version and find all your packs (including the Digital Deluxe if you bought that on either platform) in the game.
