I feel you. I haven't been able to launch my game in more than a month. My game launches and then closes with no error message, and I have tried EVERYTHING the support has suggested and what I could find, and nothing has worked.
Last time I was told this was a known issue that would be fixed with the next patch - only it didn't!
I am so frustrated and I can't even get through to the support through anything but e-mail - which almost never gets responded to.

@cowoline I have the exact same problem. I've been in contact with the Sims team about it and I've reported it a few times on here in utter desperation too as I'm on a new Xbox series S. I get a hint it's going to crash on loading as the plumbob freezes a quarter of the way along and when I see it stop I quickly hit restart. It takes 3 attempts and then it lets me in eventually, one time it took 10 tries. It frustrates me when I'm directed to get help from other gamers too sometimes when I think look, this only started after cottage living and it needs to be patched surely. But I feel like it's not being taken seriously. This is such an expensive product and a lot of work goes into creating our worlds.
I don't know, maybe it's as big a quandary for the team as it is for the players, I just haven't really seen that commitment to fixing it but that may be my anger talking. I just can't add more content till we get a serious bug fix and the updates are getting smaller when they need to be much more comprehensive. Good luck, I hope you get things sorted.
