Sims Households are disappearing from game

I am a long-time sims player but first time poster ever on any board so please forgive me if I have broken any rules. Usually, a google search helps end my pain. This time, I can’t quite find the same problem and so I haven’t found any fixes or patches from 2014 obviously won’t help here. I am so frustrated that every time that I buy an expansion pack, my gaming actually suffers and doesn’t improve. What a tragedy the eco expansion is and how miserable the NAPs are. Why, why, why? That’s not even my problem since I force cancel the naps so items don’t just disappear from lots with no rhyme or reason as sims stand and do nothing else but what the NAP dictates. My problem is now since installing this supposed expansion, sims have been disappearing from my game! I am attached to all of my sims, especially as I play them with aging turned off and basically through generations. I’ve had a couple disappear from San Myshuno which blew my mind but I accepted since I had decided to let them just be together and not have sim children. But now another sim that was dating one of my generation sims has disappeared! And it was originally a NPC sim. He’s the chef from San myshuno. I’ve had my game for two years and he’s been there since so u can imagine how I feel! Now I’m not devastated  at the loss but I’m afraid to play my game and I’ve purchased almost every extension and or game pack. This isn’t fair.  Can someone please help? My game is vanilla; no mods and  no CC. I learned from old computers and older sims games that cc and mods aren’t worth complicating an already SUPER buggy game. But at this point with all the money I’ve invested to just diversify my game, continues to worsen it! Please someone help.

  • Have you tried looking for your sim in manage households window? You have aging turned off completely right? Last question, how many household members do you have?

I know this must be frustrating as sims 4 isnt always perfect and you can go through so much gameplay just for all of your work to be taken from one little update. I been playing from its release and seen so much problems so I understand your pain.

If it helps, this sight can turn off dlcs that are currently bugged or just unwanted for whatever reasons. Maybe turn off Eco Friendly pack for a couple updates til ea fix this bug. I haven't ran into the issue myself and I run all households week by week so I have close to 200 and I'm constantly worrying about staying under the limit while let my campaign grow. I hoped I helped ya

  • @NikkiNikia @TheLuckyHat264 From what I have seen, the total Sim population limit in a game-save is 800 Sims. This includes all Sims who live in houses plus homeless NPCs, pets, service NPCs, and situational NPCs like random townies who are spawned just to walk around a neighborhood. After you've reached the 800 limit the game will start culling Sims for performance-management reasons. If you've been playing the same save for a long time, especially with aging disabled, it's possible that you were right at that limit and since adding a new pack means you are adding new Sims, it's possible that this caused some of your existing Sims to be culled. Once a Sim has been culled, I think they are permanently gone from your game. The only way to protect a Sim from the possibility of being culled (outside of using mods) is to add them to your "My Households" tab.

I use MCCC to monitor my total Sim population and give me a little more control over which Sims (if any) get culled in my game. So far the highest Sim population I have seen in any of my saves is around 670, but none of my saves are more than a few months old and I don't own all packs.

EDIT: @NikkiNikia for the chef Sim in San Myshuno that is missing in your game-- is he one of the default NPCs from the City Living pack? If so you could start a new game just long enough to save this Sim to your Library and then import him back into your old save from the Manage Households menu. Yeah it's not the ideal solution but if he has been culled then at least it's a way to get this Sim back into your old save.
