Sims won't interact with anything

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.110.265.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I have everything and all installed.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I am not sure, it happens 100% of the time for me
What happens when the bug occurs? When the game begins, my sims begin auto-actions (if they need to pee or eat generally), but when I click to interact with an object they do nothing and then I cannot click on another Sim. Also when I click on an object, the camera focuses elsewhere I believe it is the furthest depth in the screen behind the object (like the middle of the background water).
What do you expect to see? I expect the pop-up menu for the object and the action to queue in the Sim's menu. Then to be able to click on another Sim to direct
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I removed mods, updated the game, and tested in my test file. Problem occurred I checked the required updates for mods, deleted those deemed out of date, removed system errors and added mods back to the game (just to see), and attempted both the most recent game file and my test file. Problem occurred. Removed mods again, and tested both files. Problem occurred Left mods out, repaired the game, and attempted both files. Problem occurred. Repaired the game again, still no mods and I tried to start a new file. Problem occurred. I even rebooted my computer, because when in doubt.

What am I missing? I want my Reaper's Rewards and to play my game. I have Sims waiting to die and live again, maybe).

    Try the following

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Repair the game
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. 
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

    I'm also having this issue. I took out my mods and the problem persists. I'm also a PC user.

    Should mention the game is completely unplayable, as nothing can be selected (except for UI elements).

    Ok i was having the same issue, followed your instructions and started a new save game (I didn't get any errors and it worked normally). So what do I do now? Was it a problem with my mods? How do I get my old save game and sims back?

    You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

    First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

    Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

    You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

    Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

    All other files are recreated and not needed.

    I put back my saves and got in the game, and it went back to not working. So its probably my saves? All I get is a white silhouette of a sim in the main page and my sims don't show up in any of the worlds.

    If so, please zip your saves folder and upload it somewhere like dropbox, googledrive or OneDrive and PM me the link.
