Hi, I need help with small business setup and this is driving me crazy. When I purchase a business and buy a license for that location it applies a license to my residence also. In other words my residence and business are on different properties and I DO NOT want my residence to show up as a small business. I want it to stay residential and every way I try to do this it attaches my residence to it. Only way to get rid of it is to delete the business.

PitterPatterFeet It's been awhile since I set up a business separate from my home lot. I think it would help you to see how the settings should look when operating as intended. There is a topic in EA Help - How to set up a Small Business. For some reason I get an error when I try to link it here. /eyeroll I wanted to show you a pic of the set up screen.
The Business Lot Assignment dropdown set to "Assigned to 1 of 2 lots" is the one I think you need to run the business from a business lot venue, not your home lot.
In Build Buy there is an On / Off toggle for the colored lines showing zones.

You can hide the coloured lines by clicking on the allocated UI button at the top that hides the zoning lines.

Has this issue ever been addressed? I am playing the Businesses and Hobbies pack approximately one year later and am having the same problem.
Yes, my home is all set as residential and I do not have Sims spawning. The problem is the colored lines. They are not affecting gameplay as such. However, they are visually annoying, distracting, and mildly obstructive. I explicitly purchased a separate lot for the small business because I wanted my residence to stay a traditional residential lot. In addition, I receive an annoying "No kiosk placed!" notification every time I exit build mode.
I was sincerely hoping that by leaving my home lot unchecked when setting up the small business at the separate small business venue my home lot type would be preserved. It was not. Please fix to at least give us the option to turn our forced small business residential lots back to a traditional residential lot.
It will not let me change my residence back to residence from small business.
So I buy and set a small business on a lot somewhere else. I setup and open it. I travel home and find my residence set to small business. I click on the top left button and in the drop down there is no option to change it back to just residential. When I try to remove it... my small business at the lot says I still own it but need a license. If I buy a license it also attaches my residence to it. This has been a never ending loop. And really a pain because when I try and work on my residence all I see is these red lines everywhere and can't see what I'm trying to do. This is because my residence is marked as a small business. This is what started all this.
the mechanics are that the lot changes to small business residential when you register a business.
You can just set your home all residential though and don't buy a ticket machine, then it shouldn't have people spawning.
