Stairs/floor glitch

Every time I want to have a stair case without the floor, I load back into the build later and the floor appears again where I don’t want it, is this a glitch or am I just deleting the floor wrong? Sorry if I am bad at explaining this I dont know the proper name for these types of open staircases

@islaaaa11 on console I place a fence around the portion I want to delete and then remove that. It's tricky right now as deleting a room is broken on console, sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't.

One way to do it as well, is to build a fence as a railing around the top of the stairs and include the top step. The portion of fence on the top step won't show, it's just there to turn the stairs into a contained section if that makes sense. Then I use the sledgehammer on the portion that I want to delete. I use fencing that matches the stair railings. If you don't wrap the fence around the top step of the staircase it disappears when you use the sledgehammer.

  • @islaaaa11     Hello!  This is one of the things that annoys me about building in TS4!   I tried to recreate your space and I wonder what happens when you click within that area that you circled.  Do you get a yellow outline for the room?  If so, click on the yellow line to see if you get an option to remove the ceiling like this....

  • Yeah, that happens because of the stairs. It's possible to build an open space area around the stairs, but it involves a bit of more advanced building techniques, and a bit of trial and error. Also, it's best to plan for it from the start of your build, so you don't have to delete a lot of already built stuff.
I've attached the staircase from my last build, to show it is possible, and to make sure this is what you want to accomplish.

It involves, building rooms and delete partial walls, and a lot of use of the Shift key to precision place/delete trims and such.
I would recommend you Google advanced building tutorials for sims 4. There are a lot of sites, Facebook groups and YouTube videos to learn from, but most of all, a lot of practice.
